Welcome to Chiltern
Like an old-time movie set, tiny Chiltern is one of Victoria’s most historic and charming colonial townships. Its two main streets are lined with 19th-century buildings, antique shops and a couple of pubs – authentic enough that the town has been used as a film set for period films, including the early Walt Disney classic Ride a Wild Pony. Originally called Black Dog Creek, it was established in 1851 and prospered when gold was discovered here in 1859.
Around Chiltern is the traditional homeland of the Dhudhuroa people.
