Victor Harbor with McLaren Vale Wine Region Tour from Adelaide

After hotel pickup in Adelaide, leave the city behind and travel by coach through the Mt Lofty Ranges, dotted with small villages and great views. Arrive in the historic town of Strathalbyn after about an hour’s drive. You have free time to explore this quaint town on the Angas River — perhaps sit down for morning tea at one of the local cafes (own expense). Back on the coach, head to Goolwa, an old paddle-steamer town near the mouth of the Murray River, and then pass by Port Elliot on Horsehoe Bay on your way to Victor Harbor. Total driving time from Strathalbyn to Victor Harbor is about one hour. In Victor Harbor, you have approximately two hours of free time to explore the town on your own. Maybe take the horse-drawn tram across the causeway to Granite Island, or visit a local restaurant for lunch (all food, drinks and activities are at your own expense). Back on your coach, start the 45-minute drive north to the town of McLaren Vale in the popular Australian wine region of the same name. Stop for 30 minutes in town, where you can visit a cellar door (tasting room) for a wine tasting, if you wish, or check out local attractions like Medlows Confectionary or the Almond Train (own expense). Finish your day trip with the 1-hour drive from McLaren Vale back to Adelaide, passing through the picturesque coastal towns of Christies Beach, Port Noarlunga and Moana.Upgrade Cruise Option During your time in Victor Habor you can choose to include a 45-minute scenic cruise to Seal Island passing through the Horse Tram route and historic Screwplie Jetty. Enjoy a delightful tour of South Australia’s premier tourist region, the Fleurieu Peninsula. This tour begins with a picturesque coach ride through the Adelaide Hills to the historical Scottish settlement of Strathalbyn. Here you will stop for some free time and morning tea in High Street (own expense). Continue on to the paddle steamer town of Goolwa where you will have a brief tour of the town including the wharf, barrage and beach. On your way to Victor Harbor cruise past the charming coastal town of Port Elliot including Horseshoe Bay and stop at Whale Lookout for a photo opportunity. Upon arrival at one of South Australia’s most popular seaside villages, enjoy a delicious 3 course roast lunch at the Hotel Victor.  After lunch, you may like to explore Granite Island, where you’ll find the Little Penguins and you might even catch a glimpse of a Southern Right Whale during the winter months. Your tour then continues to the wine making region of McLaren Vale, best known for producing outstanding Shiraz. Full-Day Victor Harbor and McLaren Vale Wine Region Tour

After a complimentary city hotel pick up, ease in to your day’s adventure on a scenic drive to the south coast. Travel through the city, along the coast and into the countryside of the Fleurieu Peninsula region. On arrival at Victor Harbor stroll along the iconic causeway and revitalise with an interpretive walk around the historic Granite Island. Be amazed by the breathtaking ocean views and discover the history, geology and nature of the local area. Sit down to a delicious picnic lunch provided by a sustainable local caterer. Meet your captain for a 45 minute open ocean boat cruise to Seal Island. As you cruise along witness the spectacular Waitpinga Cliffs and look out for an array of seabirds such as petrels, shearwaters and cormorants. With a bit of luck, the playful local dolphins may even pop up to say hello! Looping around Seal Island see Australian Sea Lions and Long-Nosed Fur Seals basking in the sun or frolicking in the water. After a short drive through McLaren Vale wine region arrive at the eco-friendly Gemtree winery. Meander through the biodiverse wetlands that have recently been restored to maintain an ecological balance. As you follow the trail keep an eye out for the friendly natives, such as birds, koala’s and possibly an echidna. Be sure to stop and say hello to the resident Emu’s Bio and Dyno! Head up to the cellar door of Gemtree to begin your progressive wine tasting. Along the way learn about the biodynamic practices and philosophy behind this family owned property. Ideally located midway between the world renowned tourist regions of McLaren Vale and Kangaroo Island, Softfoot is home to some of the highest quality alpacas in the world.  Our privately owned marsupial sanctuary was established on the farm by Gary and Sandy Retallick as a Genetic Ark for Australia's rare and endangered Marsupial wildlife. This day tour gives participants the opportunity to explore 600 dramatic acres in the picturesque Hindmarsh Valley, South Australia (near Victor Harbor), experiencing Australian farm lifestyle and cuisine. While taking a ride over the undulating property in one of our ATV buggies, participants search for our resident wild Australian marsupials such as Kangaroos, Koalas and Echidnas before disembarking to meet our friendly world class alpacas, feeding them and taking them for a walk; all the while learning about the virtues of conservation farming and alpaca fibre. Spend time exploring the natural setting, sampling our wines or discovering our rare and endangered marsupials inside our purpose built predator proof enclosures.
