Haverfordwest Castle

South Pembrokeshire

The meagre ruins of Haverfordwest Castle consist of little more than three of its 13th-century walls. The castle survived an onslaught by Owain Glyndŵr in 1405, but according to one dubious local story it was abandoned by its Royalist garrison during the English Civil War, when its soldiers mistook a herd of cows for Roundheads.
