The dry-as-dust, 382-acre Big Spring State Park perches on a low bluff 3 miles southwest of downtown. The park’s short, one-way loop drive gives sweeping views out across the basin and plateau. The enjoyable 500m nature trail, which runs across the middle, includes labels along the way to identify tenacious plants like the spiky argarita bush.
