Trough Creek State Park

Pennsylvania

This relatively small state park (just under 550 acres) nonetheless encompasses a gorgeous, well, gorge, a forested hollow formed by the flow of the eponymous Great Trough Creek. Make sure to hike the easy 0.1-mile Balanced Rock Trail, which includes, despite its length, a suspension bridge, a precarious rock, some wonderful views over the region, and (why not?) a waterfall.
