9 Days Climb Via Machame Route

Bruno to insert the Itinerary as per email Day 1: Arrive at the Kilimanjaro International Airport, pick up and transferred to the Springlands Hotel or similar for overnight bed and breakfast. Day 2: Machame Gate to Machame Camp.Your day starts early with a briefing, followed by breakfast and a 45-minute drive from Moshi (910m) to the Machame village (1490m). The guides and porters prepare and pack the supplies and your equipment in the village. Depending on the condition of the road, it is possible to drive from the village to the Machame gate, but if not, the muddy 3 km walk will take about 1 hour to complete. After registering at the gate office, you start your ascent and enter the rain forest. You will receive a lunch pack at the gate and you can also drink bottled water you bought at Springlands Hotel in Moshi. There is possibility of rain in the forest, which will transform the trail into a very soggy, muddy and slippery experience. In the evening the porters will boil drinking and washing water and the cook will prepare dinner, before you retire to your tent for the night. Night temperatures can already drop to freezing point at Machame campsite.

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro : Machame Route

DAY 1: Machame Gate to Machame Camp, Elevation: 5,380 ft to 9,350 ftThe drive from your Moshi Hotel  to the Machame Gate . The journey passes through the village of Machame which is located on the lower slopes of the mountain. As we leave the park gate, we walk through the dense rain forest on a winding trail up a ridge until we reach the Machame Camp. DAY 2: Machame Camp to Shira 2 Camp, Elevation: 9,350 ft to 12,500 ftWe leave the glades of the rain forest and continue on an ascending path up to a steep, rocky ridge. On the Shira Plateau, we pass through heather and open moorlands, then cross a large river gorge to Shira 2 Camp. DAY 3: Shira 2 Camp to Lava Tower, Elevation: 12,500 ft to 15,190 ftWe continue to the east up a ridge and then head southeast towards the Lava Tower – a 300 ft tall volcanic rock formation. We descend down to Barranco Camp through the strange but beautiful Senecio Forest to an altitude of 13,000 ft. Although you begin and end the day at the same elevation, the time spent at higher altitude is very beneficial for acclimatization. DAY 4:Barranco Camp to Karanga CampWe begin the day by descending into a ravine to the base of the Great Barranco Wall. Then we climb the non-technical but steep, nearly 900 ft cliff. From the top of the Barranco Wall we cross a series of hills and valleys until we descend sharply into Karanga Valley. One more steep climb up leads us to Karanga Camp. This is a shorter day meant for acclimatization. DAY 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu CampWe leave Karanga and hit the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail. We continue up to the rocky section to Barafu Hut. At this point, you have completed the Southern Circuit, which offers views of the summit from many different angles. Here we make camp, rest and enjoy an early dinner to prepare for the summit day. The two peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo are viewable from this position. DAY 6: Barafu Camp to Uhuru PeakBarafu to Uhuru Peak The last day will be a really early beginning for the summit, probably 00:00 am, passing through the Ratzel and Rebmann glaciers to the Highest point of Africa Uhuru Peak 5,896m above the sea level. After relaxing, watching the sun rise and taking memorable pictures, start descending to the Mweka Hut and spend overnight there. DAY 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate Mweka Hut - Mweka Gate to the Hotel After breakfast descend to Mweka Gate and drive away to your local accommodation for dinner & overnight.

7 Days Mountain Climbing Kilimanjaro

Briefing by your guide DAY 1 Machame Gate to Machame Camp The drive from Arusha to the Mount Kilimanjaro National Park Gate takes about 60 minutes. The journey passes through the village of Machame which is located on the lower slopes of the mountain. We now leave the park gate and walk through the rain forest on a winding trail up a ridge. Lower down, the trail can be muddy and slippery. Gaiters and trekking poles are a good idea here. We continue a short distance until we reach the Machame Camp. DAY 2 Machame Camp to Shira Camp After breakfast, we leave the glades of the rain forest and continue on an ascending path, crossing the little valley walking along a steep rocky ridge, covered with heather, until the ridge ends. The route now turns west onto a river gorge. Time for rest, dinner, and overnight at the Shira campsite. DAY 3 Shira Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp From the Shira Plateau, we continue to the east up a ridge, passing the junction towards the peak of Kibo. As we continue, our direction changes to the South East towards the Lava Tower, called the “Shark’s Tooth.” Shortly after the tower, we come to the second junction which brings us up to the Arrow Glacier at an altitude of 4876m / 15,997 ft. After breakfast, we leave Barranco and continue on a steep ridge passing the Barranco Wall, to the Karanga Valley campsite. DAY 4 Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp After breakfast, we leave Barranco and continue on a steep ridge up the Barranco Wall, through the Karanga Valley (lunch at 4200m / 13,779 ft), and the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail. We continue up to the Barafu Hut. You have completed the South Circuit, which offers views of the summit from many different angles. Here we make camp, rest, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the summit day. The two peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo are to be seen from this position. DAY 5 Barafu Camp to Summit to Mweka Hut Very early in the morning (midnight to 2am), we continue our way to the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. You head in a northwesterly direction and ascend through heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim. Later in the evening, we enjoy our last dinner on the mountain and a well-earned sleep. DAY 6 Mweka Camp to Arusha or Airport After breakfast, we continue the descent down to the Mweka Park Gate to receive your summit certificates. At lower elevations, it can be wet and muddy. Gaiters and trekking poles will help. Shorts and t-shirts will probably be plenty to wear (keep rain gear and warmer clothing handy). From the gate, continue another hour to Mweka Village. A vehicle will meet you at Mweka village to drive you back to your hotel in Arusha or Airport .

7 Day Ultimate Kilimanjaro Climbing - Machame Route

Day 1: Transfer from Moshi town to Machame Gate (1490m) - Machame camp (2980m)Early in the morning the guide of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro will be with you for briefing after breakfast around 9:00 am drive to Machame gate. You start your ascent and enter the rain forest almost immediately. There is a strong possibility of rain in the forest, which will transform the trail into a very soggy, muddy and slippery experience. Day 2: Machame camp (2980m) - Shira campsite (3840m)Early in the morning after breakfast, the day is spent to reach Shira campsite with our picnic lunch. The night at this bare camp will even be colder than the previous night, with temperatures dropping to well below freezing. The trail take us for an hour or so to the top of the forest and then for about two hours at a gentler gradient through the moorland zone. After a picnic lunch and rest, you continue up a rocky ridge onto the Shira plateau.Day 3: Shira (3840m) - Lava Tower (4630m) - Barranco camp (3950 m)The route now turns east into a semi desert and rocky landscape surrounding Lava Tower, where you reach an altitude of 4630m after about a four hours walk. Lunch is served in a designated area before ascending the rocky scree path to Lava Tower. After lunch you descent again by almost 680m to the Barranco camping area and after reaching the high altitude of 4600m at Lava Tower, the true acclimatization benefit of this day becomes clear.Day 4: Barranco Hut (3950 m) to Karanga Valley Camp (4200 m)The morning starts with a scramble up the almost vertical Barranco Wall to an altitude of about 4,200m. After lunch the climbers are advised to take a rest at this point. Day 5: Karanga Valley (4200 m) to Barafu camp (4600 m)From here there is no water, so take care to stock them for there is no water at Barafu Hut. It is recommended that the climbers must familiarize with the camp before dark because of this camp is situated on an exposed and dangerous ridge.Day 6: Barafu camp (4550m) - Uhuru Peak (5895m) - Mweka (3100m)After some tea and biscuits you start climbing to Uhuru peak into the night. You will head in a northwesterly direction and ascend through heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim. At Stella Point (5685m) you will stop for a short rest and will be rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise you are ever likely to see (weather permitting). From Stella Point you will normally encounter snow all the way on your 2-hour ascent to Uhuru Peak.Day 7: Mweka camp (3100m) - Mweka Gate (1980m)After an early and well-deserved breakfast, it is a short 3-hour and scenic hike back to the Park gate. At Mweka gate you sign your name and details in a register. This is also where successful climbers receive their summit certificates.

7 DAYS Western Breach Machame - With an ovenight at the Crater Floor

Day 1: After breakfast we will pick you up from your hotel to after we have brief you about daily routine during your trek and thereafter we depart for Machame Gate for completing the all necessary registration formalities at Mount Kilimanjaro National Park - Machame gate. Begin trekking through the rain forests on a winding trail, to the Machame hut 3000m. Dinner and overnight camping in mountain tents at Machame hut.  Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Day 2: Early morning after breakfast we leave the glades of the rain forest and continue on an ascending path, crossing a little valley and walking along a steep rocky ridge covered with heather. The route then turns west onto a river gorge at 3658 m. Dinner and overnight camping in mountain tents at Shira Hut campsite 3800 m.  Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Day 3: In the morning after breakfast takes we will leave the moorland behind and continue up a rocky path through typical Kilimanjaro mountain vegetation of Senecios and Lobelia. From Lava Tower the views up towards Kibo, of the Western Breach, are fantastic. Camping in mountain tents at Lava Tower Hut at 4600 m.  Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Day 4: Early morning after breakfast we climb the slope behind the hut, through cliffs of rock forming the arrow glacier. We camp in mountain tents at the ruins of Arrow Glacier Hut at 4900 m.  Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Day 5: We leave Arrow Glacier and begin the climb up through the Western Breach until we reach a ridge like a staircase and scramble up onto the crater floor. Whilst the climb is non-technical, the altitude combined with the incline will be a significant barrier to pace. It takes about 6 hours to reach the crater floor. Accommodation in mountain tents at Crater Camp at 5700 m.  Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Day 6: Early midnight trek to Stella point (5745 m) after a cup of hot chocolate, coffee or tea on the way to the Summit, the Uhuru Peak. This part of the climb takes about 1 hour. You have now reached the highest point in Africa 5896 m. From the summit descend to Mweka hut campsite 3000 m for dinner and overnight camping. Day 7: Early morning after breakfast the day is spent descending to the Mweka park gates, at the gate you will be awarded a certificate of competence by Kilimanjaro National Park Authority for successful reach Uhuru Peak. Thereafter you will be transferred to your hotel in Moshi for hot lunch total rest and depending on the itinerary you will be transfer to Airport, spending overnight at the hotel or explore the hundreds beauty of Tanzania's wildlife and birdlife parks along with beach vacation to Zanzibar.

Day 1: Machame Climbing Route Mount Kilimanjaro Trek/Climb Machame Gate to Machame Camp The day starts with a hearty breakfast and briefing with your tour guide. From Arusha we drive to Moshi. The drive from Moshi to the Mount Kilimanjaro National Park Gate takes about 50 minutes. The journey passes through the village of Machame which is located on the lower slopes of the mountain. Here we make camp, rest, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the summit day. The two peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo are to be seen from this position. Day 6: Machame Trekking Route Mount Kilimanjaro Passage/Trek Barafu Camp to Summit to Mweka Hut Very early in the morning (midnight to 2am), we continue our way to the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. You head in a northwesterly direction and ascend through heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim. This is the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek. Day 7: Machame Climb Route Mount Kilimanjaro Direction/Way Mweka Camp to Moshi We save the best for last. After breakfast, we embark on our final descent down to the Mweka Park Gate to receive your summit certificates. At lower elevations, it can be wet and muddy. Gaiters and trekking poles will help. Dinner and overnight at Karama Lodge Day 8: Departure You will be picked up from your hotel and driven to the Airport to catch a flight back home.
