Marché du Vieux-Port

Québec City

At this heaving local food market, you can buy fresh fruits and vegetables as well as dozens of local specialties, from Île d’Orléans blackcurrant wine to ciders, honeys, cheeses, sausages, chocolates, herbal hand creams and, of course, maple-syrup products. Weekends see huge crowds and more wine tastings than can be considered sensible.

The date is not yet firm, but the venerable Marché du Vieux-Port is scheduled to quit its portside location and move to ExpoCité, a multisite entertainment complex that includes the Centre Vidéotron stadium, about 6km north of the old town.
