Welcome to Antique Province
This province of rugged peaks and jungle rivers hugging Panay's west coast – pronounced an-TEE-kay – has an excellent road connecting Caticlan (and Boracay) at one end and the southern tip of Panay at the other. Tibiao in particular has become an adventure getaway from Boracay. Other attractions, most notably in Pandan, are spread out, so it helps to have your own vehicle, or base yourself at a resort that provides tours. The area around Tobias Fornier and Anini-y on the southwestern tip of Panay feels like a well-tended hideaway with a handful of great-value beach resorts.
San José de Buenavista, aka 'San José Antique', is the provincial capital and a transport hub, but its traffic-clogged streets offers little to the traveller apart from the province's only ATMs and a Robinsons Place mall.
