The winners of the 2018 National Geographic Photo Contest have just been announced. Around 10,000 entries were submitted from all over the world for this year’s edition, all of them divided into the contest’s three categories— Wildlife, Places and People.

The winners, three for each category plus a Grand Prize recipient, were chosen by a panel of National Geographic photo editors. There are, of course, various rewards for the winning photographers, and the image that won the Grand Prize will also be featured on National Geographic’s Instagram account.

You can see a selection of the images in the gallery down below, and you can visit the contest’s official website for the rest of the winners and honourable mentions, as well as the story of how each picture was captured.
