Welcome to Shiliin Bogd Uul
The plains of Dariganga are littered with the calderas of extinct volcanoes, lonely mountains that have been rounded into soft cupolas by the omnipresent wind. It's a dramatic landscape, one that feels powerfully raw to both visitors and Mongolians; for the latter, no area is more holy than the 1778m Shiliin Bogd Uul, one of the most sacred mountains in Mongolia. This peak and the rolling steppe that proceeds from it form a gorgeous panorama. The only drawback is the gender rule that ostensibly keeps women from climbing to the top of Shiliin Bogd Uul.
