From Mombasa to the Tanzanian border there's some serious sand. And not just any sand; these beaches are some of Africa's most splendid. Think vast stretches of white sand, lapped at by cerulean waters and topped with buff kitesurfers. There are far worse places to spend a few days.
And yet, this stretch of Kenya is about more than just beach life. Slip into the sea and lie under those coconut fronds, but, while you’re at it, try walking through a 600-year-old sacred forest, scouting for mudskippers in a forest of mangroves, snorkelling in the jewel-box waters of a marine park or feeling the salty wind curl off a dhow’s prow as you head to a new island.
