Welcome to Western Bosnia
Travelling through this region of green wooded hills, river canyons, rocky crags and mildly interesting historical towns you'll find yourself constantly passing in and out of Bosniak-Croat Federation territory and the Republika Srpska. You'll always know when you're in the latter by the red-blue-and-white Serbian flags which sprout in profusion whenever you enter it. Prominent towns include the old Ottoman administrative capital Travnik, the gorgeous hilltop settlement of Jajce, and Republika Srpska's quasi capital Banja Luka. In the west, the Una River gushes flamboyantly over a series of waterfalls before joining the Sava on its rush to the Danube and, ultimately, the Black Sea.
