I'm a Detroit-based journalist and spend some of my summers guiding cruise ship tours around the Great Lakes. I love my home, my freshwater seas, and exploring the intersections of art, history, and culture in the industrial towns of America. But during the winters you might find me hunkered down in Portugal, Italy or Spain for a few weeks at a time.
