About the author
I'm a journalist and author based in Inishowen, Co Donegal. I love the wildness of where I live right on the edge of Ireland listening to the restless energy of the Atlantic Ocean. I seek adventure on my travels - a mix of wild, open country with a city stop thrown in at the end. One of my favorite books at a kid was called places to go and it opened my eyes to the world of travel. The standout trip of a lifetime for me was a month spent in Alaska traveling around before paddling down the Chitina River; paddling by day and camping by night. I loved traveling around New Zealand in a camper van and hiking in Abel Tasman National Park. I collect Christmas decorations from my travels and have little trinkets from all over the world which adorn my family tree. I haven't yet made it to the foothills of the Himalayas where I dream of traveling some day. For me a non negotiable after a few days camping is a warm and cosy bed. I love finding off radar destinations and places that are far from the madding crowd.
