Idling among heritage buildings and sampling local produce are the main attractions in cute-as-a-button Berry. Most visitors pass through for immersion in the old-timey ambience, complete with wholesome B&Bs and design stores. Eight kilometres inland of stunning Seven Mile Beach, it's a pleasant way-station between Kiama and Nowra on Rte 1.
European settlement began in the early 19th century, displacing the Indigenous Wodi Wodi of the Dharawal group, the land's traditional owners. The modern town built its wealth on cedar trees and dairy farming, but these days Berry is best known for tourism and fine food.
