La Casa del Caffè Tazza d’Oro

Centro Storico

A busy cafe with burnished 1940s fittings, this is one of Rome's best coffee houses. Its position near the Pantheon makes it touristy but its coffees are brilliant – the espresso hits the mark every time and there's also a range of delicious caffè concoctions, including granita di caffè, a crushed-ice coffee served with whipped cream.

There's also a small shop and, outside, vending machines and a coffee bancomat for those out-of-hours caffeine emergencies.
