Birdland

Top choice in Suzhou

Friendly staff speak excellent English and there is an ever-changing selection of 15 well-kept, local brews on tap. There are also tasty burgers, pizza and potato wedges on the menu. On the ground floor of Ligongdi International Youth Hostel.

Named after a Patti Smith song, Birdland is one of the first bars in Suzhou to offer craft beer on tap. Birdland co-owner Ming learned to brew beer at Master Gao in Nanjing and, along with the other friendly co-owners, is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about beer. With its cool soundtrack of western indie-rock, played at a comfortable background level, this is a place to come with friends to chat and drink.

Phase 4 (李公堤4) is a relatively new area – let taxi drivers know that it is near Jinji Lake Avenue (近金鸡湖大道, jìn jīnjīhú dàdào).
