Energy+Coffee

Suzhou

It’s almost inevitable that you’ll need to refuel when exploring Pingjiang Lu and this funky, hidden coffeeshop, serves a killer espresso. Besides offering a small collection of cookies and cakes available throughout the day, it has simple croissant-and-coffee breakfast deals (¥25) until 10.30am. Keep your eyes peeled for the square black sign facing Pingjiang Lu.

Energy+Coffee serves good-quality, excellently made coffee. The interior, though tiny, has some expensive-looking coffee brewing equipment and the staff, who all speak reasonable English, is knowledgeable and passionate about coffee. Choose from standards such as Americano and flat white or opt for one of the cold brews, perfect on a hot Suzhou summer’s day. Other drinks include tea, hot chocolate, and, for those who can’t choose between tea and coffee, a green tea latte.
