Fleming

Top choice in Wan Chai & Northeast Hong Kong Island

An updated classic, this Wan Chai boutique hotel evokes the golden age of travel, with 66 clubby rooms bedecked in colonial whites, bottle greens, hardwoods and brass fixtures. Said to be inspired by Hong Kong's cross-harbour ferry, it's more like staying on the royal yacht Britannia (before she sailed out of Hong Kong Harbour for the final time in 1997).

The smallest rooms are a poky 21 sq metres but all come with bespoke bathroom amenities, feather-soft beds and delightful design details such as the 'do not disturb' dials mimicking an old ship's telegraph. A handsome Mediterranean restaurant, Osteria Marzia, is the setting for breakfast. The Fleming sits in the corner between Fleming and Jaffe Rds.
