Caffè Sant'Eustachio

Centro Storico

Always busy, this small and unassuming cafe near the Pantheon serves the best coffee in town. Its secret? Baristas beat the first drops of an espresso with several teaspoons of sugar to create a frothy paste to which they add the rest of the coffee. The result is superbly smooth. Ask for yours 'senza zucchero' if you don't want sugar.

It also sells pastries, vacuum-packed beans and a range of gift-wrapped goodies such as chocolate-coated coffee beans.
