West Gorordo Hotel

Cebu City

This environmentally responsible place touts its zero-carbon philosophy, doesn't use plastic and provides free drinking water – however, the structure itself is a lumpish concrete block. Bright, tidy rooms have comfy beds and motivational art, and there's the travel-themed Journeys Cafe downstairs. Bikes are available for hire, there's table tennis and a kids' library. No outside guests allowed in rooms.

It's part of the same ecofriendly group that includes Cebu's Mayflower and Elicon hotels.
