The Marriott Marquis in Houston is scheduled to open in December and has lit up its Texas-shaped rooftop river for the first time, giving travellers a glimpse of what to expect when the hotel opens.

Texans are well-known for their state pride, and the new hotel is sure to capitalise on that. Marriott says that the hotel will allow guests to indulge in “Texas-size luxury” and “captures the bold spirit of Texas while embracing the best of Southern hospitality”.

Houston is hosting the 2017 Super Bowl in February, which is sure to draw in visitors from around the US. According to the Houston Chronicle, the Marriott Marquis is the largest hotel opening in town.
