If you ever dreamt of staying in a 15th-century half-timbered house, look no further than this sumptuous B&B in the heart of Dinan. The building's medieval character and historic ambience have been lovingly preserved while modern comforts and designer fittings have been added – you have to see the architectural elements and furnishings of the rooms to believe them.
Now owned by the hard-working and welcoming Stéphane, the house once belonged to Auguste Pavie, a French 'plenipotentiary' in Asia and the grand abode is dotted with pieces in keeping with this Oriental spirit, including a few Chinese statues of Guanyin, the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy. The private garden at the back is a delight, and dinner can be arranged (€35). Room prices are around €35 to €40 cheaper from October to the end of April.
Set in a half-timbered house from the 15th century, La Maison Pavie is located in the historic centre of Dinan, on the Place Saint Sauveur, opposite the Basilica. Each room features a contemporary décor, a flat-screen TV and free internet access. The rooms include Bang & Olufsen products and modern en suite bathrooms. Breakfast is served every morning at la Maison Pavie. Guests can enjoy traditional French cuisine in the dining room, or outdoors in the garden. La Maison Pavie is a 30-minute drive from both Saint Malo and Cancale. Free parking is available in close proximity to this guest accommodation.
Please note that meals must be reserved at least 24 hours in advance. Cheques are an accepted method of payment.
