Tiny Maitland is the place to go rafting on the white water that is created by the outflow of the Shubenacadie River meeting the blasting force of the incoming Fundy tides. It's also one of the oldest towns in Canada.
Wave heights are dependent on the phases of the moon; get information from your rafting company about the tides for your chosen day as your experience (either mild or exhilarating) will be dictated by them. Outboard-powered Zodiacs plunge right through the white water for the two to three hours that the rapids exist. Prepare to get very, very wet – no experience is needed.
