Lake Lubāns

Latvia's largest lake is very shallow, its shores covered in reeds and encircled by a fir tree forest so dark and wild you can shoot films about Siberia in the vicinity. Around 180 species of birds, including swans and eagles, are nesting here and there are six watchtowers in the area for birders to indulge in spotting them.
