Welcome to Buccoo
Though its narrow strip of white sand is monopolized by fishing boats at the village end, Buccoo's sweeping palm-backed bay is pretty spectacular. Even so, it's more a place to hang out or take a horse ride than throw down your towel. This may soon change, however, as a huge Sandals resort hotel is proposed for construction on the Buccoo headland – though if and when construction will start is anyone's guess. For now the tiny village offers a taste of true local flavor: friendly folks who define easygoing, breathtaking sunsets over the bay and the infamous Sunday School party every week, staged in and around the incongruously grand new beach facility. It's also the place to come for a fabulous laid-back horseback ride along the beach.
