Church of Gross St Martin

Cologne

Winning top honours for Cologne's most handsome church exterior is Gross St Martin, with an ensemble of four slender turrets grouped around a central spire towering above Fischmarkt in the Altstadt.

Dating to the 12th century, it was built on the foundations of a Roman storage hall, which was then on an island in the Rhine.
