Welcome to Palambei
The second haus tambaran has soaring twin roof peaks but a modest interior. The remains of a third haus tambaran sit between the other two. It was bombed by the Japanese (or Americans, depending on who you ask) in WWII and all that remains are the large upright posts with carved faces.
Stones, which must have been carried many kilometres, have been set up in the glade. Locals are great garamut players and you might see some beating out their powerful and complex rhythms (K40).
Palambei is a 20-minute ride from Kanganaman by motor-canoe and the village has two simple guesthouses (K30 per person). One is owned by Jacob Kambak and the other by Benny Kusodimi.
