Welcome to Western Coast
Musandam's western coast, together with the cliff-hugging 42km, 90-minute drive along its rim from Khasab to Tibat, is a highlight of a trip to the Musandam Peninsula. The sealed road is a feat of engineering and affords spectacular views across the Strait of Hormuz. There are a few sites of interest along the way, and you could spend a day pottering along the road, enjoying a swim at one of the many glorious sandy beaches, and watching very large sharks basking in the shallows. The beachside settlements are often inundated by the listing flanks of sand dunes blown back from the shore. The road ends in Tibat at the Al Darah border with the United Arab Emirates.
