Welcome to Gosainkund Trek
The Gosainkund lakes are a collection of scenic high-altitude holy lakes set in a mountain bowl at around 4400m. The lakes are a major pilgrimage site for Hindus and attract up to 20,000 pilgrims during the August full-moon festival of Janai Purnima. The Himalayan views from just above Laurebina Yak stretch from Manaslu and the peaks of Ganesh Himal into Tibet and rank as some of the best in central Nepal.
One distinct advantage of walking the route through Helambu all the way to Kathmandu is that you don't have to suffer the bus ride from Dhunche back to the capital. The sense of journey is also very satisfying.
