Welcome to Playas
A 10-minute drive east of town brings you to the little-known fishing village of El Morro. Off the international tourist trail, it has a completely different feel from Playas, with attractions including one of the oldest remaining churches in the region and a historic bakery. But El Morro Port is the real reason to make the journey here – bordering the mangrove-lined Rio de Horno, it is home to dolphins and exotic frigate birds. Tour agencies offer boat tours to see both; when you're done, tuck into the best crab soup of your life by the dock.
