Welcome to Yarrawonga
Arrayed along the southern shores of Lake Mulwala, which was created when the Murray River was dammed for irrigation back in 1939, Yarrawonga is beloved by boaters, waterskiers, golfers and retirees. It also enjoys more sunshine hours than anywhere else in Victoria. Such positives make up for a lack of old-world character and its atmosphere as a fairly run-of-the-mill provincial Victorian town. It's an OK option to pass through, but you could do better if you're wanting a base.
Pick up the brochure Farm Gate Trail, a useful guide to the region's local producers.
