Rockefeller Memorial

Great Smoky Mountains National Park

This two-tiered stone-walled structure overlooking two states commemorates the $5 million contribution John D Rockefeller Jr made to help make the national park a reality. This is also where President Franklin Roosevelt formally dedicated the park on September 2, 1940.
