Welcome to Sarvoda
Sarvoda (Сарвода), on the main road (M34) between the Anzob Tunnel and Ayni, is almost at the confluence of three rivers, the Fan Darya, Pasrud Darya and Iskander Darya, but is known chiefly as a junction of mountain roads. As such is makes a good place to break a journey and buy petrol, or some supplies for the surrounding beauty spots of Margeb, Iskander-Kul or the Alaudin Lakes. It's fair to say that Sarvoda is not the most attractive of towns, with its old Soviet apartment blocks and factory ruins, but it nevertheless has a buzz about it – as befitting perhaps of a major transport hub between challenging stretches of high-altitude road. A grand bridge straddles the fast-flowing river, dividing the town from its roadside, back-of-the-truck bazaar.
