The market town of Baza, 47km northeast of Guadix, started life as an Iberian settlement. It was subsequently occupied by the Romans and Moors, and although little remains from this period, it has an attractive historic centre and a small cave-dwelling district. There’s not enough sightseeing for a long stay, but it’s well worth a brief stop.
