Philadelphia

The city's most active and prestigious arts institution, this modern concert hall, designed by Rafael Viñoly, hosts the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Pennsylvania Ballet and more. A giant barrel-shaped glass roof encloses two main auditoriums: the 2547-seat Verizon Hall and the 650-seat Perleman Theater. Free tours of the building are held at 1pm daily.

Check online to find out about its 90-minute art and architecture tours held on selected Saturdays. The Kimmel also manages the gorgeous baroque-style Academy of Music.
