Teishaba

Hokkaidō

Inside the 90-year-old Kita-Hama Station, operating since 1986, Teishaba is decked out to look like a vintage rail car, with wood and burgundy-velour booths and rotating fans overhead. With views of both the Sea of Okhotsk and the trains coming and going, this is an attractive place for a coffee break.

If you feel inclined, pin a business card to the walls like the gazillion other folks have as a mark you were here.

Kita-Hama is a stop on the JR Senmō line, between Abashiri and Shiretoko Shari, one stop west of Gensei-kaen.
