Empire Theatre

Brisbane & Around

Toowoomba's cultural heart beats stridently inside the magnificent Empire Theatre, sections of which date back to 1911 (the facade is from 1933). The venue plays hosts to a variety of performances, from touring prolific musical acts, to musicals, theatre, comedy, kids' concerts, opera and even ballet.

Temporarily suspended due to refurbishment works, guided tours of the theatre (10am Tuesday and Thursday) were expected to resume in 2019; see the website for updates. In the meantime, stick your head into the lobby and ogle the deco details.
