Fantastic Umbrella Factory

Rhode Island

A sprawling collection of 19th-century farm buildings and elaborate, unkempt gardens, this former commune got its start in 1968. A series of shacks and sheds are filled with a wide variety of gift items: from flower bulbs and perennials to greeting cards, toys, jewelry, junk, drums and hemp clothing.

There's an organic cafe, and exotic birds and farm animals roam around freely to the delight of children.
