College Hotel

Amsterdam

Originally a 19th-century school, the impressive-looking College Hotel has stylish rooms you'd never think were former classrooms. It's a celebrity favourite, hosting everyone from Jamie Oliver to Faithless, and is well situated between the museum quarter and De Pijp's sights and cafes (about 1km from both).

At the time of research there were plans for a major renovation.
