His relics are now preserved and considered miraculous. This place gives a good insight into the history of the conservative Orthodox tradition of Montenegro.Around 6 pm, amidst the surreal influences of the setting sun, it’ll be time to sum up our impressions and return back to our beloved seasidebase – Kotor, where we’ll arrive around 8.30 pm.

Smiley Nort of Montenegro Tara bridge and Ostrog Monastery

Đurđevića Tara Bridge(pronounced [dʑǔːrdʑɛv̞iːtɕaː târa]) is a concrete arch bridge over the Tara River in northern Montenegro. It is located at the crossroads between Mojkovac, Žabljak and Pljevlja, between the villages of Budečevica and Trešnjica.  Đurđevića Tara Bridge, which was designed by Mijat Trojanović, was built between 1937 and 1940 in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. The project's Chief Engineer was Isaac Russo. The 365-metre-long (1,198 ft) bridge has five arches; the largest span is 116 metres (381 ft). The roadway stands 172 metres (564 ft) above the Tara River. At the time of its completion, it was the biggest vehicular concrete arch bridge in Europe.Much of Montenegro, including the Tara Canyon, came under Italian occupation following the German-led invasion of Yugoslavia in April 1941. As the mountainous terrain made it suitable for guerrilla warfare, a partisan uprising occurred in the area. Italian forces took control of the Tara Bridge during an Italian offensive in 1942.A Yugoslav Partisan raiding party blew up the central arch with the aid of one of the bridge engineers, Lazar Jauković. The attack cut the only feasible crossing over the Tara Canyon halting the Italian advance. When Jauković was eventually captured, however, the Italians executed the engineer. These events were depicted in the 1969 Yugoslav film Most. The bridge was rebuilt in 1946. It was used in the 1978 British action film Force 10 from Navarone set during World War II. Bungee jumping is organised on the longest arch directly above Tara river. The bridge also plays a large part in the Dutch novel 'Het land achter Gods rug' by A. den Doolaard, which was published in 1956. This novel is partly based on the true story of the bridge including its destruction by partisans during the World War II.The Monastery of Ostrog (Serbian: Манастир Острог/Manastir Ostrog, pronounced [ǒstroɡ]) is a monastery of the Serbian Orthodox Church situated against an almost vertical background, high up in the large rock of Ostroška Greda, in Montenegro. It is dedicated to Saint Basil of Ostrog (Sveti Vasilije Ostroški), who was buried here. From the monastery, a superb view of the Bjelopavlići plain can be seen. The monastery is located 50 km from Podgorica and 15 km from Nikšić. Ostrog monastery is the most popular pilgrimage place in Montenegro. The Orthodox monastery of Ostrog is one of the most frequently visited on the Balkans. It attracts over 100,000 visitors a year. It is visited by believers from all parts of the world, either individually or in groups. It represents the meeting place of all confessions: the Orthodox, the Catholics and the Muslims. According to the stories of pilgrims, by praying by his body, many have been cured and helped in lessening the difficulties in their lives.

Nevidio Canyon Tour with Lunch

Unique adrenaline experience begins in the early hours of the morning. You will get all the necessary equipment (helmets, safety belts, neoprene suits and boots). Attractive surreal landscapes will take your breath away all the way and you will not resist not to capture them with your photo cameras. At the place where the river Komarica narrows to only 10 m, there is hardly noticeable, carved in the wall, is the entrance to the canyon Nevidio. At 100 m from the entrance is another natural rarity, the occasional waterfall Skakavac. While putting on the equipment we'll have a brief conversation to get to know its use and what awaits us in the canyon, so we can safely pass all its pitfalls. The first encounter with steep, smooth cliffs and water that freezes the blood in your veins, will leave you breathless and dazzled with its rugged beauty. Most of the canyon is located in the eternal shadow where sunlight does not reach ever. Anyone who has ever gone through canyon Nevidio will agree that words can't describe the feeling as you swim through a narrow strait, or jumping into foamy waves of several meters in height. The width of the canyon in some places is only half a meter, so for about 3-5 hours, the duration of the tour, adrenaline will jump to maximum more times. Our professional guides will help you to successfully overcome all obstacles and discover every part of this hidden mountain pearl. Upon exiting the canyon and discharging the equipment and full of impressions, we finish our adventure. We will regain our strength with a gourmet lunch prepared in the traditional way with local, organically grown groceries Here our canyoning tour through Nevidio ends.
