Welcome to Jalpan
The attractive town of Jalpan centers on its famous mission church, constructed by Franciscan monks and their indigenous converts in the 1750s. The town is the gateway to the other four famous mission churches sprinkled liberally around the region. Jalpan itself is quite a charmer, with a lovely central square and an attractive hillside location. Not surprisingly, given its tropical climate, Jalpan specializes in artisanal – and very delicious – ice creams served in the many heladerías (ice-cream shops) around town.
