    Kenting Night Market

Kenting's night market is renowned as being one of the best in Taiwan, and that's saying something. Every evening as the sun goes down, the vendors stalls begin to set up along about a 1km strip of the town's main street, Kenting Dajie. Stalls run the gamut from freshly grilled scallops and squid to fried noodles, stinky tofu, deep-fried milk and heaps of fruity cocktails.

    Piccolo Polpo Bistro

Charming restaurant with an open kitchen and a decidedly young vibe. Food is loose Italian with French and/or Asian leanings, but the cooking is on point. Think seared ahi tuna with pineapple, duck confit, seafood risotto, and of course, the namesake octopus which is chargrilled and served on a bed of greens. Prices are higher for Kenting but justifiably so.

    Bossa Nova Beach Cafe

This cafe sits on the main drag in Nanwan, across from the beach. Sandwiches are filling, the beef-cheek stew is hearty, and the cheesecake wows the kids. Should you want to stay in the Nanwan area, the cafe also runs a B&B. Bossa Nova is close to a 7-Eleven store.

    Beach Bistro

A cute ocean-themed restaurant that whips up tasty Mediterranean fare and curries. The pasta with clams is a favourite. Service can be slow when there are many customers.
