City Steam Brewery Café

Connecticut

This big, boisterous place has housemade beers on tap (pints $6 to $8). The Naughty Nurse Pale Ale is a bestseller, and the seasonals are also worth a try. The brewery's basement is home to the Brew Ha Ha Comedy Club, where you can yuk it up with visiting comedians from New York and Boston.

There's plenty of great food to soak up the ale, too (appetizers $8 to $12), and you can take bottled and canned favorites to go.
