La Lorraine

Port-au-Prince & Around

This restored 1950s home-turned-boutique-hotel is Pétionville's quirky little gem. Apart from the high-arching door frames, each room is uniquely arranged with contemporary furnishings and fine Haitian art, with some rooms featuring balconies and hammocks and others containing mini gardens. The owner's meticulous attention to detail is apparent at every turn, but service can be oddly gruff.

The beloved hotel restaurant, Café 36, features a daring and delicious international menu and backs up to an art gallery, with the chic space frequently hosting events, including a regular Monday-night trivia game. The rum sours here really do the trick.
