Lucy Gazebo & Restaurant

Addis Ababa

Next to the National Museum and a favourite haunt of locals, expats and museum-visiting tourists, this bright and airy restaurant with alfresco garden dining serves pastas (some vegetarian options), curries and good Ethiopian fare – among the 15 local dishes, we recommend the special kitfo or the Beg tibs (sauté lamb with vegetables). However, you do pay for the location.

They sometimes have live music in the evenings from Thursday to Saturday, plus they win the prize for one of the strangest mottos we've come across – 'the food is nice but watch out for the bones'.
