The Gellért Hotel is a striking example of Budapest art nouveau.

Danubius Hotel Gellért

Budapest

Buda’s grande dame is a 234-room four-star hotel with loads of character. Completed in 1918, the hotel contains examples of art nouveau, notably the thermal spa's entrance hall and Zsolnay ceramic fountains. Prices depend on which way your room faces and what sort of bathroom it has. Hotel guests get a 30% discount for the thermal bath.

The Gellért was the inspiration (but not the actual film location) for the hotel in Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014).
