The internet as we all know was made for kitten photos, and it’s highly likely that Instagram was made for food photos.
The social media platform is awash with the best food photographs and the best foodies rushing to spread the love for what they do, and the competition is fierce. After a couple of food phenomena like Cronuts, golden donuts, and rainbow donuts, all from New York bakeries, Instagram became the go-to platform for bakeries in the US.
Thankfully Instagram became well aware of the fierce battle between different bakeries to make the most Instagrammable and most delicious food. It came up with a list of the top 10 most geotagged bakeries across the US and we’re now going to share them with you for your drooling pleasure.
A favourite of the Bay Area, this chichi bakery offers all the best of the French classics. Who needs Paris anyway?
This bakery is an exception to the homey or alternatively upscale French bakeries that are big on Instagram. It’s a Cuban bakery with typical Euro-Cuban offerings that sees big piled cakes made with port and Bavarian cream.

This is a legitimate Italian offering, in existence since 1970, made famous by the TV show Cake Boss. But regardless of the show that made it famous, Carlo’s Bakery offers pastries straight out of the Godfather, with cannoli and lobster tails coming out the wazoo.
One of the most famous bakeries in the world, responsible for the iconic cupcake epidemic, it’s no surprise to find this bakery on the list. The banana pudding is supposed to be its secret best.

Holding onto the cupcake craze is Georgetown bakeries that are all over DC serving up a whopping 100 cupcakes to choose from, making them the most geo-tagged bakery of the nation’s capital!
A 24-hour doughnut shop that caters to all flavours and people through the night is very likely to make it to the top of the list, specially if it’s as popular as California Donuts.

Voodoo Doughnut is trendy Portland’s answer to California’s doughnut obsession, offering a bells and whistles over the top options with a little grungy and quintessentially Portlandian countercultural twist, that make Instagrammers happy.
Ladurée would of course make the list, particularly its upmarket US flagship bakery in Soho, where pastel macarons and French pastries combine to transport you straight to the Champs-Elysée.

The inventor of the cronut, the pastry for the social media era, is of course among the top two most geotagged bakeries in the US. People queued from four in the morning to get in and savour some of its phenomenal baked goods, and people still gather to partake of some of this French baker’s magic.
Drum roll! It may be no surprise to connoisseurs that the Café Du Monde is the most Instagrammed bakery in the US. Fans gather for hours trying to partake of some of its world famous beignets that it’s been producing since 1862!
