The unique and futuristic skyline of Dubai has become a centrepiece of the next frontier world of the next blockbuster Star Trek Beyond.
Downtown Dubai, with its Jumeirah Lakes Towers and the architecture of DIFC, has become the instantly recognisable backdrop in the 180-second teaser for the rebooted space franchise.
According to Time Out Dubai, sources have revealed that the scene was shot near Burj Daman, which is located opposite the Ritz-Carlton DIFC.
Arabianindustry.com says there is a shot from over the Burj Khalifa, with the Burj Al Arab also featuring.
However, both of the iconic buildings have been altered in the scene.
The new Star Trek film, which includes in its star line-up Chris Pine, Zach Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg and Idris Elba, will be released later this year in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Producer Jeffrey Chernov, who helped produce Mission Impossible in the city six years ago, said the film looked for and then found the future in Dubai.
He told a Burj Al Arab press conference that it represented what the next frontier would look like in the movie.
Chris Pine, who plays Captain Kirk Dubai said Dubai was a stunning city. He claimed it looked like “whatever tomorrow will be. It’s future-land.”
