    An entertainment extravaganza, Kingdom of Dreams offers live Bollywood-style shows that are out-and-out sensory assaults. Performances are supported by world-class techno-wizardry, as the cast swing, swoop and sing from the rafters. There's a free shuttle from the metro every 15 minutes, but it's only a 500m walk; come out of Gate 2 and take the first right.

    A hub of cultural and artsy seminars, exhibitions and performances housed in a well-located, landscaped sprawl not far from India Gate.     Open-Air Theatre

    Next door to the extravagant, more well known Kingdom of Dreams, this modest open-air theatre puts on free traditional-music performances every Saturday evening at 7.30pm. It's 400m from IFFC Chowk metro station; come out of Gate 2 and take the first right.

    India International Centre

    The IIC is a key location for a sector of Delhi society, usually elderly intellectuals. Although the club is for members only, the public is welcome to the regular, quality, free exhibitions, talks and concerts.

    Small, but well regarded theatre with frequent shows. Puts on its own small-scale drama productions, but also often hosts comedy nights.

    Delite Cinema

    Founded in 1954 as the tallest building in Delhi, the Delite was renovated in 2006 and it's no ordinary cinema, with a painted dome and Czech chandeliers. It’s a great place to see a masala picture (full-throttle Bollywood, a mix of action, comedy, romance and drama), with famous extra-large samosas available in the interval. All films are in Hindi only, though.

    Glossy chain cinema, screening the latest Bollywood releases as well as high-profile Hollywood imports. There are PVR branches on Baba Kharak Singh Marg and at Basant Lok Community Centre and Select Citywalk mall in Saket.
